I'm Ferrell Solomon — you can call me DJ Solo. I'm a Richmond-based mobile DJ, and I started The DJ For Me for one simple reason: the right DJ doesn't just play songs, he runs the whole night.
My job is reading the room. Knowing when to drop the throwback that gets every generation on the floor, when to bring the energy up, and when to let a moment breathe. I mix live, I take your must-plays seriously, and I keep the mic work smooth — announcements when you need them, never a running commentary when you don't.
Private parties, corporate celebrations, birthdays, pool parties, reunions — if people are gathering to have a good time in or around Richmond, I want to be the reason they're still talking about the dance floor on Monday.

Summer Saturdays and holiday-party season dates go first, so a few months out is ideal. Private parties, birthdays, and corporate events often book 4–8 weeks out. That said — if your date is soon, still ask. If we're open, we're in.
Yes. We're based in Richmond, VA and regularly travel to surrounding areas. Tell us your venue in the booking form and we'll confirm travel details with your quote.
Please do — it's your party. Before your event we'll build your must-play list, your do-not-play list, and your special-moment songs (birthday shout-outs, awards, cake cutting, send-off). On the night, DJ Solo blends your picks with live reads of the crowd.
Yes — MC service is included in every package: introductions, announcements, and keeping your timeline flowing with your planner, venue, and photographer. A wireless mic is provided for toasts and speeches.
We bring the full rig: professional speakers, mixer, dance-floor lighting (uplighting in Signature and above), and backup equipment. The venue just needs a standard power outlet near the setup area and about 6 feet of space. We arrive early and handle setup and breakdown.
